How we write
The safety guides on herhello.com are written to help people meet across borders without getting hurt by scams, fake profiles or decisions made in a hurry. This page explains who writes them, how we check what we publish, and what to do if you find a mistake.
Who writes our guides
Every article is written by the HerHello Editorial Team, a small team at the company that runs the HerHello app. We publish as a team rather than under individual names, and we never invent author personas.
Some drafts are prepared with the help of AI writing tools. Every page is edited and checked by a person on our team before it is published, and the team is responsible for what it says.
How we check facts
- Scams and safety. Where we describe how scams work or where to report them, we rely on government and regulator sources where we can, such as the US FTC and the FBI's IC3, Australia's Scamwatch and the UK's Action Fraud.
- Our own app. What we say about HerHello is checked against the app as it works today. Verification on HerHello is optional: members can confirm they are real with a live selfie that a person on our team checks against their profile photos, and verified members carry a badge. Not every member is verified, so our guides always tell you to verify for yourself too. She chooses who can send the first message: either of you, or only her.
- Other apps. Comparisons use each app's own public information, such as store listings and websites, and they are dated because features and prices change. We are the company behind one of the apps compared, and every comparison page says so.
- Country guides. Laws, customs and reporting channels change. Each guide shows when it was last updated, and our guides are general safety information, not legal advice. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services first.
- No member numbers or testimonials. We don't publish member counts, match counts or success stories.
We correct mistakes
If you spot an error, such as an outdated fact, a wrong reporting channel, or a description you think is unfair to another app, email support@herhello.com with the page address and what is wrong. We read every report. When we fix something significant, we update the page's date and record the change in the log below.
No paid placements
Nobody can pay to be included, ranked or praised in our articles or comparisons. The Travel tab may list local services; any paid listing there is labelled Sponsored, and affiliate links are labelled too (see Partners).
Corrections and major updates
- 5 October 2026: Reworded several safety guides that overstated what verification does on HerHello. Verification is optional; the guides now say so plainly and remind you to verify for yourself.
- 5 October 2026: Corrected our description of Bumble's women-first rule. Bumble made it optional with "Opening Moves" in April 2024 and ended it completely on 11 August 2026.
- 5 October 2026: Added team bylines and this page.
